CPI Program Director receives the NJ American Planning Association's Stuart Meck Distinguished Award Award
The Center for Community Planning is happy to congratulate Deborah Schulze, CPI Program Director for being this years NJ APA recipient of the Stuart Meck Distinguished Service Award for her work in training young people to be voices of change in their communities. Since the programs inception, the City Planning iNstitute has served over 1000 students in communities all throughout NJ.

Valley National Bank Community Impact Report
For 3 years, Valley national Bank has passionately funded the City Planning Summer Institute in Newark, Paterson and Passaic. See the CPI highlighted n page 15 for it's continuous work in inspiring youth to creating positive civic changes in their home neighborhoods!
2020 NJ- APA Conference
In January of 2020, the 2019 City Planning Institute graduates presented their proposal for West Haven Corridor on South Orange Avenue in Newark, NJ. They joined Larry Hamm from the People's Organization for Progress as the luncheon Keynote speakers. They presented to over 500 planning professionals from throughout he tri state area and received a standing ovation for their work!
New Jersey Community Capital West Side Property Analysis
In the Summer of 2019, City Planning Institute students in Newark, NJ worked in partnership with New Jersey Community Capital to conduct 2,000 property assessments in the West Ward. The students collected data on the conditions of homes and properties that informed the development of the West Side property Report to be used by the city in developing strategies for community improvement.
